All you need to do now
is Simply copy and paste the example.

UPDATE! UPDATE! UPDATE!

We're discovering new ways to make the sig boxes work again. Stay tuned and we'll give you the news as we discover it. Some of the examples below only work for e-mail, some work in the signature box. Test is all we can tell you for now.

To use something in your signature, don't copy the code, copy the actual working HTML. Use our testing page to customize your code, and then copy and paste the working example. You cannot use it in the sig box, but you sure can save it and then paste it into a posting.
(1-22-06)

To copy and paste any of this code,
left-click and drag the mouse to highlight what you want - then press CTRL+C.
Paste wherever you want by pressing CTRL+V.

StarSector001 has kindly allowed us to put up the code for some of her wonderful calendars.
You'll find them and the code (except you don't really need the code, except to go to our
testing page to customize it.) on a page with basically her codes only. Click here

Briefly, here are most requested instructions. If you really want to learn HTML or just have a good reference book on hand when you need information, you might be interested in the HTML Pocket Reference, Creative HTML Design.2, or HTML 4 For Dummies : Quick Reference
If you decide you want to go deeper, we highly recommend Platinum Edition Using HTML 4, XML, and Java 1.2 with CD-ROM.
Understand that you are basically now learning the code for writing a web page. If you want an easy way to do all this, you can try Dreamweaver MX

LINKS

You can still add links in the body of the message the same as you always have. Simply grab the heart from the window you want to become a link and drag it into the message or the sig box.
You can also use the <A> tag. Almost all tags require a closing tag when you are finished with the command that that particular tag invokes. So, if you use the <A> tag, then you must close it after the necessary information has been added with the </A> tag.
If you wish to make a link to this page, for example, and the text for the link is AOL Signature Help, then the coding would look like this:

<A HREF="http://www.taylorshopping.com/AOLSignatureHelp.htm">AOL Signature Help</A>
Looks like this:
AOL Signature Help
When you view this in your signature window, it will look very unusual to you if you're not familiar with HTML. However, it will look even stranger after you save it and go back to look at the saved preference. It will still post to the boards as a link even though it does not appear so.

**NOTE: When you make changes to your signature preferences, it is necessary to rewrite the links.

MARQUEES

If you wonder what a marquee is, it's that sliding (up, down, sideways) text that you're seeing in some signatures.
The basic HTML for this is:

<MARQUEE>Your text goes here</MARQUEE>
This will look like this:

Your text goes here
The variables you can create with this are many.
With the DIRECTION parameter, you can make it Directional:

<MARQUEE DIRECTION="right">Your text goes here</MARQUEE>

Then you can use the DIRECTION parameter of up, down, left or right. A right Directional parameter will give you the following:

Your text goes here

here's something a little more fancy

Y
Y
Y
Y
Y
Y
Y
YYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY
Y
Y
Y
Y
Y
Y
Y

Put your text
and/or
ascii art
here.

YYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY

Use the source code to test in our test area with your own customization and then copy the actual working HTML so you can c-n-p it into AOL:

Enough of explanations. You are here because you want something to work on those boards and you haven't gotten it figured out yet, right? RIGHT!
The table below gives you the code to copy & paste on the left (for the old style boards), and an example of what it does on the right (which you can copy and paste into the new style boards.). You can find the hex color codes here .
There are many variables within the codes. Experiment with them and
HAVE FUN!
