Harry And David took over the family pear orchard business in 1914. Their rare pears were shipped, at that time, worldwide. With the advent of the Great Depression, new markets had to be found to keep the business going. The two brothers set out to New York and San Francisco from Medford, Oregon with samples to present to American moguls. They returned with enough orders to begin a mail order business, and keep the family in business. Harry and David are gone today, but these American-made products are now the world's leader in fine food gifts by mail order. There is no wax in Harry and David chocolates, and they are some of the finest, smoothest chocolates we've tasted in a very long time.
We visited the factory in Medford, Oregon and took their tour. We were not only pleased, we were impressed with their way of doing business, and we highly recommend all of these American Made products from Harry and David.
